  • Memories shape our lives and we cling to them as a witch clings to her flying broom (or vacuum). Some memories are comforting, others haunting. Do you remember the first time you heard: One-Eyed, One-Horned Flying Purple People Eater? How about Monster Mash? Thriller? Dead Man’s Party…https://yadadarcyyada.com/2018/10/26/haunted-halloween-blog-party/Sympathy for the Devil, Time Warp, (Don’t Fear) The Reaper, Devil Went Down To Georgia…https://yadadarcyyada.com/2018/10/26/haunted-halloween-blog-party/Dragula, Welcome to my Nightmare, This Is Halloween…Who You Gonna Call? • For some, Halloween is another kind of Christmas. It’s been 25 years since I stood in line on opening day to see Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas   https://yadadarcyyada.com/2013/10/19/the-nightmare-before-christmas/ and sometimes it feels like yesterday. https://yadadarcyyada.com/2018/10/26/haunted-halloween-blog-party/

  • Hocus Pocus  came out the same year and it’s cheesiness put a spell on me for all time.

  • Halloween attacked theaters (1978, 40 years ago and still today) and thanks to lax age rules back then, I probably saw it on the big screen. I heard that music and I was transfixed, they had me. Then the cinematography sucked me into the vortex of Michael Myers; I was right there, running scared with Laurie Strode/Jamie Leigh Curtis (Final Girls rule!)https://yadadarcyyada.com/2014/03/20/25-ways-to-stay-alive-in-a-horror-movie/ https://yadadarcyyada.com/2018/10/26/haunted-halloween-blog-party/

  • Night of the Living Dead  was 50 years ago and sadly, the ending stands up the most in these troubled times, proving the point, the more things change the more they stay the same. https://yadadarcyyada.com/2016/10/14/the-glorious-chaos/

  • Netflix’s vision of The Haunting of Hill House may thrill and chill you. Starring Michiel Huisman of The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society   -thanks Netflix for keeping the original book titles, for both and possibly for redoing Sabrina, I think I’m missing the teenage witch angst campiness, but adding Michelle Gomez  aka Missy from Doctor Who , genius!), Game of Thrones, Orphan Black, Nashville; also, Timothy Hutton; Carla Gugino; Henry Thomas (E.T. Phone Home!) https://yadadarcyyada.com/2018/10/26/haunted-halloween-blog-party/and more, it’s not too scary, er, depending on your definition of scary.  https://yadadarcyyada.com/2014/10/19/religion-politics-and-the-great-pumpkin/https://yadadarcyyada.com/2018/10/26/haunted-halloween-blog-party/

  • Something wicked this way comes and horror gives us a way to examine the scary, horrifying, most frightening, the darkest parts of our world in a safe space, so you might say we horror fans are the original snowflakes…let’s hope we don’t melt.

      1. That was truly terrifying and I may have wanted to wait until the morning to read it lol 😉 Thanks for dropping this by, come back again and again (and it doesn’t have to be Halloweenie stuff, but this was cool). 🙂

    1. Thank you kindly, Gwen, easy when it’s a subject you love. 😉
Hope this weekend treats you kindly and you can stop back and share some links to posts and/or books, etc. 🙂

    1. Thank you for the dreadfully kind words and reblog, dear Sally. 🎃🎃🎃
Hope you have a lovely time ou this evening. 🙂
When you get a chance, please drop back in and leave some links to your posts, books, others posts, etc.
Thank you again and again. 👻👻👻
Wishing you all the best, always, dear friend. 🙂

      1. It sounds wonderful, Sally, thanks for dropping this link so others can follow your breadcrumb trail. Hope your evening went well. 🙂 Leave as many links as you like – the more the scarier! 😉

    1. These are both awesome although I always forget about “Black Christmas”, which is so wrong. Both are classics.
Did you ever see a movie called, “The Dead Don’t Die”? It’s funny how some movies stick in your head, I think I watched it when I wasn’t supposed to.
Loved this post, thanks for sharing it at my Haunted Halloween Blog Party https://yadadarcyyada.com/2018/10/26/haunted-halloween-blog-party/ Please feel free to drop by again and again and leave more dreadfully cool blog links.
Thanks, off to share this post and hope this weekend treats you well, with no zombies or serial killers, at all. 😉

  1. Donna, you hallowed gem! You reminded me of every spook-tacular Halloween favorite. I love this post.
I didn’t know they remade Sabrina. I will look for it. I need more silliness in my life.
Oh yes, I was so delighted and excited, I almost forgot your invitation for a link. Here’s a horror story: Now that I made a party bus in stead of a book launch, I seem to have started a trend. Really, imitation is the highest form of flattery, but they could have at least waited a decent mourning period before claiming my idea… Anyhow, everyone is welcome to join my party for “Atonement in Bloom” https://teagansbooks.com/2018/10/20/book-launch-party-bus-atonement-book-fair/
Mega I wish every day could be Halloween hugs!

    1. Now it’s a party!!! 🎃🎃🎃 Thanks for dropping by, dearest Teagan and leaving a link and such an amazing one too!!! Drop by with more, more, more! Promote your posts, books, social media, anything and everything, be a shameless self-promoting bloghussy (like me!). lol 🙂
Of course they’re copying you, you’re the cat’s pajamas, but they could have waited a tad or at least disguised it a little better. You’re an influencer (never sure that’s a good thing if people are just going to steal your ideas).
Yes, just started watching the latest “Sabrina” on Netflix, not as campy as the TV series from way back when but interesting so far. 🙂
Hope you have a wonder-filled weekend, dear friend and drop by again and again!
Mega should I have put out more peeled grapes and spaghetti? hugs xoxoxxoxoxo

  2. An awesome Halloween tribute. Brings to my mind the shadows of Bram Stoker, Bela Lugosi, Chris Lee, Peter Cushing, Vincent Price, Ingrid Pitt, Barbara Steele, Anita Ekberg, Mario Bava, ……

    1. That’s awesome, thanks for letting me know some of your favs and please feel free to drop by and leave links to posts, social media, etc. 🙂

  3. A terrific mishmash of Halloween stuff! I did not know that Something Wicked…was also a movie. I loved that book. And now I have time to see the movie before Halloween!

    1. Lovecraft and I have a love/hate thing, I go through times when I love then hate…Same goes for Sutter Cane, makes sense, right? Carpenter is a genius.
You didn’t leave some links to your posts, hope you can pop back and leave some, lots, the more the ‘scarier’!!! 😉

  4. Oh Darling girl, you’ve got me reading this from beneath the bed . With me there there’s no room for monster. I didn’t want to be scared by your reminiscences but you surprised me with it and it’s not even Halloween yet.. I’m holding on to sanity since you mentioned Terry Pratchett and it’s a little better too since you mentioned Neil Gaiman. The Munsters and the Adams Family played it for laughs and I’m OK with that but really whet’s making me hold it all together (apart from you) is the thought of Black Friday and the Christmas presents I can get. I might even give some of them out this year.
    Sending Gargantuan Hugs xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    1. I didn’t mean to scare you, dear David, well, maybe a little. Boo! 👻
There are so many levels to horror although a lot of them seem to be in the political circus these days – shudder!!!
I’m glad you’re holding it together and glad I could help in any way, dear friend. I’m mostly done my Christmas shopping (don’t throw things at me!), but I will be checking out the deals cause you never know 🛍️🛍️🛍️
Hope life has been treating you well, if not, let me know so I can give it a stern talking to. 😉
Thank you for dropping by, but you didn’t leave any links – links to post (any, even older or other folks’ posts), links to books (I know you have those, they’re wonderful), social media, etc. Come back and share your wonder!!!
Wishing you and yours a Spooktacular Halloween, all the best, every single day 🎃🎃🎃
Massive keep that sanity in a tight grip it’s a precious commodity these days hugs xoxoxoxoxoxo 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

  5. So many great movies, TV shows and songs that lie on the dark side. It’s a scary time of year, made even worse for me because my birthday is on Halloween and it scares me when my age ticks up one more number. Tick tock, I don’t want to hear that clock on Halloween.. But I do want to watch some of those movies or Adams Family reruns! Maybe listen to some Danny Elfman music (Dead Man’s Party or Nightmare Before Christmas, either will do.) More than that, I think I will crash this blog party. I have posted quite a few horror/scary stories on my blog, but I am going to be self-centered and post a link introducing the villain (a spirit/ghost/whatever) from my book, The Halley Branch. I hope you enjoy! https://trentsworldblog.wordpress.com/2018/06/22/benjamin-the-halley-branch/

    1. Cool birthday!!! And amazing link, shared and hope you bring more, more, more! Your book sounds great, hope I get to read it soon. Crash the party over and over, my blogdoor is always open, Trent. 🙂 And Happy Birthday in advance! 🙂

    1. I always thought I was Wednesday Addams, my parents told me no, but I don’t know, we know what we know, right? 😉 Maybe not.
I hope you can pop back later and leave some links to your around the world in an armchair blog posts, those links are cool. 🙂

      1. I was a “Wednesday’s child”… but I’m older than her, so not *her* child… unless the TARDIS was involved. Oh… I’m giving myself a timey-wimey headache. 😉 I’m not full of woe though, after your post.

      2. lol Whether or not this gets timey wimey, I’m glad you’re not full of woe. I always assumed that’s why Charles Addams called her Wednesday, she was full of woe, I’m guessing you’re more like a Friday’s child, dear friend. 😉

    1. I like to think I’d adapt and survive, but who am I kidding? I also think a lot would depend on the speed of the zombies…and the smell. 😉 🧟‍♀️🧟‍♀️🧟‍♀️
Any link would be wonderful from you, Mary and I’m particularly fond of cowboys myself,🤠 so thank you for rustling up this link for us to mosey on over to (ok, I’ll stop now lol). 🐴 I’m off to share and please feel free to pop back as many times as you like to share as many links as you like, no need for them to be scary, just the more the scarier! 😉

  6. OMG…LOVEEEEEEE IT. Where to start? At the end, the OBEY was from an old movie that I loved. The dogs and cats living together was so funny…and I remember laughing when I first saw it…still funny. Love Supernatural, the Adams Family and, of course, Peanuts. This was spooktacular and YaY!!!!! Applause and I am definitely going to reblog it. Thank you. 🙂

    1. Thanks for stopping by and so glad you enjoyed it, it was fun to create, as I’m sure you can tell. Make sure to drop back and leave some links to posts, no time limit, this party looks like it may be a long, dark party of souls. 😉

    1. Thank you kindly for the spooktacular reblog and the dreadfully kind words. Hope you can pop by and leave some links!!! Wishing you a wonder-filled weekend. 🙂

    1. That’s too scary!!! 😉
Thanks for dropping a link to your awesome blog, Rob, keep ’em coming, this goes until Halloween and maybe beyond. 😉

    1. Thank you so much for the reblog and all the sharing and #bloglove, dear Rob, I don’t know if I tell you this enough, but you’re awesome!!! Hope you can pop back again and again and share you blog links, social media links, etc. Thanks again and I hope you have a Spooktacular weekend! 🦇👻🎃

    1. This is stunning and makes me want to throw on a sweater, get some piping hot tea and curl up with a good book and/or movie. Thanks you for the images, dear Rob, shared and loved. xoxoxox
Thanks for dropping by, keep ’em coming, maybe we can overthrow the ugly with beauty. Leave as many links as you’d like, to posts (yours or others), social media, etc. 🙂

      1. I love the B-52s – my Aunt gave me a promo 45 of ‘Rock Lobster’ just before it came out, I was hooked. Thanks for the stroll down memory lane, now get back here with more links lol 😉

    1. Thank you, thank you, thank for spreading the #Bloglove – I do hope you can pop back a few times to share some post links (yours or others), links to social media, etc. Thanks again and have a Spooktacular weekend!!! 🙂

    1. I still watch it every year with my son, yeah, that’s it, I watch The Great Pumpkin for my son lol 😉
Hope you can pop by later and leave some links to your posts. 🙂

    1. It’s a blog party, Marilyn, not a linky party, do you just do what you did, but leave a link here in the comment box…leave as many links as you like (my taste buds will thank you, not sure about my waist) – they don’t have to be Halloween-related, can also be to social media, books, etc. Have fun! 😉

    1. OK, you made me shudder and now I’m itchy (not that that would help). Cool Halloween post. Thanks for dropping by. Keep ’em coming. Hope this weekend treats you kindly (and spider-free). 🕷️ 😉

  7. When I was a child, Halloween wasn’t celebrated at all in the UK. I didn’t see anyone trick or treating until I was past 40 years old. As a result, I just don’t get it. But I am in a minority, I know.
    Best wishes, Pete. 🙂

    1. I think it’s cool that people like and don’t like different things, but that’s no excuse for not sharing some of your post links, social media links, etc. here, is it? lol Kidding, but please Pete, feel free to drop by and share the #bloglove and ignore the Halloween-ness of it all. 😉

  8. Happy Halloween and thank you.

The leaves are changing. The ghosts, ghouls, monsters and witches are coming out.
Fear the night, never walk alone.
October nights rebirth the ghost seeking salvation or revenge.

He, who knocked on the house with no lights.
    May, rebirth the hungry witch.

Check the candy, check your friends.
    Halloween night.

Ever-changing and the night where the dead can dance and sing.

    Coyote

    1. That’s awesome, John!!! Thanks for sharing.
Hope you can pop back round and share some links (any posts, yours or others), social media links, books, etc. 🎃👻😱

      🎃🎃🎃
      😱😱😱

  9. Thanks for the invitation. I’m truly ghoulified.

Shadows of a thousand years rise again unseen,
Voices whisper in the trees, “Tonight is Halloween!”
    – Dexter Kozen

      1. So worthy and this is an awesome post, flights of fantasy, that rules – thanks for sharing it. Keep ’em coming, they don’t have to be Halloween-related. 🙂

      1. One might say it’s ‘The Curse of Time’https://yadadarcyyada.com/2018/10/17/the-curse-of-time/ Sounds familiar, like I’ve read that somewhere lol 😉

    1. Thank you kindly and so glad you could drop by. The posts is great and I haven’t read the book (It’s been added to my scary long list!) so thank you for letting me know about it. Pop back as often as you like to leave more links, they don’t have to be Halloween-related, just anything you want to share. 🙂

  10. Brilliant! You put a lot of work into this fabulously scary post. Thank you! (How will I ever sleep tonight?) 👹👺😱😈🤡

  11. Reblogged this on Leigh's Wordsmithery and commented:
Woop, woop, it’s a Halloween Blog Party!!! Let’s all put on our best running shoes and get to Donna’s house, as long as it’s not on Elm Street, Lucifer Drive, etc. She’s definitely the (g)hostess with the mostest fun!

    1. Thank you, thank you, thank you for the spooktacular reblog!!! 🎃🎃🎃
Thanks for dropping by my Halloween party, I hope you can pop back in and leave some links to your posts (they don’t have to be Halloween-related). Thank you again and now I have to run, er, away? lol 😉 😱😱😱
Hope this weekend treats you kindly. 🙂

    1. Thank goodness, Susie, all I had was chocolate (which I ate), eye of newt (not even sure that’s edible), peeled grapes, and limp spaghetti, I’m really a dreadful ghostess!!!👻👻👻 Your treats are spooktacular!!! 🍬🍬🍬 So is your blog. 🙂 Hope everyone visits and enjoys as much as I do! 🎃🎃🎃

      1. That’s the joy of blog parries, hanging out with each other, meeting new blogfriends and supporting your blogging community/family! 🙂

    1. We are incredible and as a Canadian woman I can say without bias (lol) we’re extra incredible eh. 🙂 🇨🇦
Thanks for leaving this link, RoseMarie, I’ve shared and enjoyed thoroughly. 🙂
Hope this week treats you kindly.

    1. Thank you so much for this spooktacular reblog, I appreciate you spreading the #bloglove!!! Hope you can drop by again and leave some links. 🙂 Wishing you a wonderful week ahead. 🙂

    1. Thanks for dropping this by, this made me think and laugh and I too have sensitive skin.
Yes, there are no rules, leave as many links to as many things as you wish, posts (yours or others), books, social media – go for it! 🙂

    1. I may be a bit of a nerd, but I love to vote, I feel like I’m not just doing my duty, but it’s a privilege – seriously, we just had a municipal election and only 37% of the people eligible to vote did so. Come on, how can you be part of a society and not care what happens or worse, complain about it and don’t vote? This is a wonderful post, I’ve shared all over the place and thanks for bringing it to my blog party!!! Bring more, bring more!!! 😉 Oh and everyone, get out there and vote – it’s fun!

    1. Cool post and informative, ‘which’ is why I’m so dreadfully pleased you shared it.
I’ve shared on Twitter and am now following your blog and you, on Twitter, glad you found me in this giant virtual haystack.
Please feel free to drop by and leave more links, to posts, social media, books, etc. 🙂
Hope this week is magical. 🙂 🧙‍♀️

      1. Thanks D 🙂
I arrived via seeing a tweet from Hugh Roberts, I’ll be back to link up to a few posts later but I have a prior engagement with a wife and daughter and something called ‘take them shopping’ to do for now.
Halloween is indeed living up to scary expectations so far.

      2. Hugh Roberts is a talented blogger and author and a great supporter of other bloggers. 🙂
Enjoy the time with family, not matter what you’re doing, even if it’s something as horrifying as, gasp, shopping. 😉

    1. The horror of vanity! Thanks for leaving this dreadfully wonderful link and thanks for giving us the gift of the book this short story crawled out from – here’s my review https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/04/06/the-wonder-of-you/
Leave as many links to posts, books, social media, etc. as you wish, they don’t have to be Halloween-related (spooktacular if they are though).👻👻👻
Happy Halloween and hope this week treats you kindly, thank you for popping by. 🎃🎃🎃

    1. I got kicked into spam (thanks WordPress), yes, they do that all the time, I find the weirdest stuff in there, once I found a 3 year old comment (spooky). lol 😉
Spooktacular post Sue, thanks for dropping by, keep ’em coming, we’ve got days to go until Halloween. 🙂

    1. Thank you for the reblog, Jonathan, hope this week is being good to you and you have a fun Halloween – all the best today and every single day. Feel free to drop by and leave some links. 🙂

  12. Hi dear Donna! What a fantastic bash! I love Halloween! Thank you so much for hosting and allowing us to share some of our bits and bites from our blogs! Here’s a link to a post I wrote a couple of years ago. While it isn’t Halloween related, it was scary nonetheless: a bad date many, MANY moons ago called, “Life’s Lessons & Why I Hate Chicken Balls” (Chinese food for those who are wondering!) : https://wp.me/p4doQv-16U Thank you, my dear! Cher xo

    1. This was scary and maybe because it’s all to familiar too many. Great life lessons though and in hindsight, funny. Thank you dear Cher, for the post and being so you. Hope you had a fantastic birthday, cheers, my dear friend, to many more years!!! Hope this week treats (with no tricks) you kindly and Happy Halloween! 🎃🎃🎃

      1. Ah, bless! Thank you, Donna! Yes, it wasn’t my most stellar moment, but I sure did learn a lesson (or two? perhaps three?) 🙂 And thank you so much for the birthday cheers and a very Happy Halloween to you my dear!! Cher xo

      2. I think we learn more from the bad stuff than the good, it’s only natural. And look what he missed out on, you! What a maroon! 😉

      3. It really is, isn’t it, Donna? Bless you my dear! Thank you for your thoughtful and kind words! LOL Well I have to tell you something funny. Years after the chicken ball challenge (*biggest grin I can muster*) I was at a concert. I kid you not as the day is long; I felt as if someone was staring at me. I turned around and sure enough, about 10 rows up there he was! I thought to myself, you have got to be kidding me! Well! Didn’t he wait for me after the concert and hand me his business card! Hahahahaha I was with some friends of mine who asked me who that was. As I headed towards the garbage can to deposit the card, I simply said, “No one we care to know!” 😉 Cher xo

    1. Sally’s party is off the hook and love, love, love your additions, Robbie, what a treat! Thank you for dropping this by this party too – you’re a party animal lol 😉 Keep ’em coming. #TheMoreTheScarier 🙂

    1. It was and still is one of the more haunting themes…hope you can pop back and leave some blog posts links, social media links, etc. 🙂 Happy Halloween #TheMoreTheScarier

    1. These are so cool, Aquileana, I can never get enough of your posts and these two are no exceptions. Thank you so much for dropping by and leaving your links. I’ve shared all over the place. Hope this week is treating you kindly, dear friend and all the best today and every single day. 🙂 ❤️

  13. Hi Donna, sorry to have missed your party. I love all these great movie and saw most of them. I found your message in the spam. Please invite me for the next event!

    1. It’s still going, though Halloween is over (I still think it’s just a state of mind), the party goes on, please feel free to drop by and leave links to posts, social media, books, etc. 🙂

    1. Thanks, wasn’t that an awesome party, Sally really is the (g)hostess with the mostess! She knows how to throw a party! 🙂
Please feel free to pop by and leave some links here, my blogdoor is always open. 🙂

  14. I love this list and because Halloween for me is all year long, I’ll do my best to catch up on movies and shows on here I haven’t seen yet! I’m currently watching The Haunting of Hill House and it has completely taken over my sleep. Thanks for the recommendations and have a (belated happy Halloween)

    1. Hill House hooked me and I just kept watching every chance I could until suddenly it was over…or was it?!?🏚️😱👻
Thanks for dropping by and best of luck with the house…please feel free to drop back and leave links, Halloween may be over, but for me, it’s a state of mind, my blogdoor is always open. :)🚪

      1. Just finished watching it last night. I’m hoping for a season 2, but it closed up pretty tightly, so i don’t imagine they’ll create a second season… Bummer. For me too!! I love Halloween 😁 any blogathons still open? I’d love to join in. Thank you for all your likes. Much appreciated.

      2. WE can hope.
This is still open, my blog never closes so leave links, to blog posts, to books, to social media, to other people’s posts, whatever you feel like. Go for it!!! 🙂

    1. I love that there’s always more to see, makes each day seem limitless. 🙂
This is an awesome post and isn’t Colleen a wonder? Makes me grateful you’re all part of this large, loving blogging community/family. 🙂

    1. WordPress is being touch and go with notifications again, no worries, my blogdoor is always open, pop back with a link and it will be here for others to find. 🙂

    1. Our Thanksgiving is early in October and not nearly as ‘big’ as America’s celebrations, but I agree, I am also so grateful you’re in my ‘WordPress’ World, dear Rob. Hope you’re having a peaceful and Happy Thanksgiving. All the best today and every single day. Thank you for leaving this link, it’s wonderful.
Hope the weekend treats you kindly. 🙂 Big bloggy hugs xoxoxo
