Is reality just a figment of someone’s wild imagination? What if none of this is real, what if we’re all characters in some bizarre game, er, maybe I should cut down on Westworld  watching, but am I really supposed to believe this is real? What if I’m in a coma and dreaming all this? Or in a TV show, snowglobe, in a virtual reality machine…Maybe living in words between words. So if you’re waiting for another page to be written, why not write it ourselves?

– Books in any form are still one of life’s absolute pleasures – I’m a happy bookoholic, I bought 144 books for $30 at my city’s library sale! Oh why can’t I just read all day everyday?

– Tim Curry (saucy minx), now The Narrator/Criminologist, he’ll always be Frank-N-Furter to me – lovely to see him working after his stroke.

– Doctor Who  returned, well, at least The Doctor, only briefly in the spin-off, Class – Correctamundo, but without David Tennant.

– And crawling on the planet’s face, some insects called the human race, too often worshiping at the altar of celebrity, lost in time, lost in space and I’m hoping for more meaning, maybe when the election’s over. Please!!!

Just in time for Halloween, https://yadadarcyyada.com/2016/10/28/enter-at-your-own-risk/  I happily watched the less campy, less raunchy, but extremely entertaining TV reboot of The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let’s Do The Time Warp Again – Reeve Carney aka rock star Dorian Gray (sigh, I miss Penny Dreadful https://yadadarcyyada.com/2014/05/19/penny-dreadful/), Ivy Levan, and Laverne Cox (Orange Is The New Black https://yadadarcyyada.com/2014/09/12/orange-is-the-new-black-except-for-pumpkins/)  killed it in this reboot. But it made me wonder, hmmm, is this actually like blogging?

1. You see others doing something and get engaged  in the process. You want to share your blogging bliss, but break down in a blog storm, then have to get ‘help’. Enter at your own risk…

2. Then you experience things in a whole different way. I remember doing the Blog Warp. Drinking those moments when, the blogness would hit me and the blogvoid keeps calling. Let’s do the Blog Warp again! With a bit of a mind flip, you’re into the blog slip and nothing can ever be the same…

 3. You find yourself doing things you’ve never done before, meeting people that might be from a different planet when you only wanted to blog. It was great when it all began, I was a regular blogging fan…Now I finally understand, loss and pain carve a great big hole for the joy to land.

4. Blogging, not as wild as Rocky Horror, but you feel exposed, like you’re standing around in your undergarments in the social media castle. Now, blogbabies, don’t you panic. So come up to the blog-lab, see what’s on the blog-slab, I see you shiver in antici…blog…pation! Don’t dream it, blog it.

5. If you question how or why you’re blogging, if you’re doing it ‘right’ or ‘wrong’, close your eyes, smile and know – the darkness must go down the river of night’s dreaming. Flow morphia slow. Let the sun and light (aka other bloggers and readers) come streaming into your bloglife, into your bloglife…

  1. Hi Donna. What a fabulous start to my Friday.
    At first you had my feeling the way I did when I came out of the theater after watching A Beautiful Mind (questioning my own reality!) but in a happier way. 😀
    I’m totally with you in “So if you’re waiting for another page to be written, why not write it ourselves?” The pen in in your hands! As you know, I’ve been trying to do that for about 5 years, and some cosmic jester keeps throwing my page into the incinerator. So I’m looking for a stone tablet and chisel…
    Thanks for the heads-up about “Class” — I didn’t know there was a spin-off.
    And for the wonderful Rocky Horror images. Happy Halloween and mega hugs!

      I remember that feeling from that movie, it’s cool that movies can make us question, ponder, and hope…After seeing Chariots of Fire I was running in slow motion for weeks, sure, looked at bit odd, but in my head I was a champion! lol 😉
      I know what you mean, Teagan, real life sure can be a downer, always butting in when you’re trying to do something – bad reality, bad! Go out there and carve forth, set it in stone so it will never be lost again!
      I’ve only seen 2 episodes so far of Class, but I liked it, of course Peter Capaldi popped in, special guest the TARDIS, it was lovely.
      I’m glad I and the casts of Rocky Horror could help your day perk up.

  5. ….Say it!…. So, are we supposed to guess how many Rocky Horror references there are in this post? I think it would be easier trying to find sentences without them…. Hmm, perhaps in the first half of the post there were a couple, but I don’t think a sentence went by after this mish-mash of outtakes “Hot Patootie – Bless My Soul, this is a topsy-turvy world, onlineness takes its toll, but read closely, not for very much longer…” that didn’t have at least one reference….

  11. With a shake of my head I’ll try and come back t reality. Nope, ain’t gonna work so easily this time when the Time Warp has got in there too and Frank n’ Furter is telling me this is what reality looks like now.
    Ha, caught it! So, 12 months more and you’ll be a published author and hopefully blogging more. I suppose that could well be true if you combine the whole thing together and sped all your time blogging about the book which you’ll need to do for promotion. Mind you, one surefire way of doing that is to wait for the annual reprise of the Rocky Horror Picture Show and stick a copy of your book cover to all the fan’s backs, the cameras will soon follow them.
    It’s a pity you didn’t get 145 books for $30 as we can now all say it was a gross error buying so few. (sorry).

    1. Well, hopefully life doesn’t get in the way again, or some version of life, who knows, someone could tip over my snowglobe and have things fall over. 😉
      As long as I can catch up with those fans while they’re doing The Time Warp…just a jump to the left and now they’re wearing my magnum opus, or not.
      Well, they were charging $3 a bag so I stuffed a lot into those bags – some were brand new. Happy readaholic, I am.

It is timeless and wonderful and raunchy and ridiculous, and there is nothing like doing the Time Warp with everyone else, there really is not. An experience indeed. Happy Halloween to you too xx

      1. yeh — I saw the Rocky Horror update. It’s nothing compared to the act of defiance embodied by the way Tim Curry plays that Frank-N-Furter. This is 1975 when crossing gender lines was still taboo.

        Curry is takes his cues from the street queens who still dominated
        the marches.

      2. Tim Curry will always be Frank-N-Furter too me, he’s sublime, never an off moment, never. I was most surprised by Reeve Carney as Riff Raff. I love love love Richard O’Brien as Riff Raff so I thought no one could even come close, but Carney played it a different way and I was already thrilled with his Penny Dreadful work, so…I like the update, but nothing will ever match the original, it was too astonishing.

      7. The real problem of re-making Rocky Horror is that you’d have to recreate the radical gay and feminist politics that carved out a social space for a rock musical about a bisexual mad scientist transvestite whose ‘monster’ is a male version of Marilyn Monroe.

        The term for Tim Curry’s costume was gender fuck and even the monster is a gender fuck because he is a stereotype.

        Somehow, we are more conservative in 2016 even though we seem to accept more diversity in our culture.

        Three films that we simply cannot make in 2016 came out between 1974 and 1979.

        Rocky Horror, Harold and Maud and Outrageous!.

        Harold a Maud, a tender love story about a suicidal 18 year old and the 80 year old love of his life, Outrageous!, the uplifting ‘Star is Born’ tale of a rising female impersonator and his best friend who has schizophrenia and screws cab drivers so she can get pregnant to prove she’s alive.

        All of these films are about he right to be different and the humanity of being different in a world that demands conformity even from its non-conformists.

        In many ways, the 70’s were more radical than the 60’s.

      8. I think the more things change the more fearful some people become and they push back, but if they could just appreciate that diversity is a thing of beauty, in people, animals, all of nature, they’d be less fearful and not so endlessly annoying.

  20. Cool stuff, Donna. Well, except the colonoscopy bit. [Hope you’re okay!] Well isn’t that just like me: to focus on the bad. Urgh!
    On a pleasant note, I recorded (well, sort of) the new Rocky Horror but we haven’t watched it yet, as I was a temporary bachelorette when it aired (husband out of town). So, now that he’s back, I think I might even give it a view tonight. I love the subversiveness of RH, although I’m by no means an expert. I still have my shy persona that holds me back a bit, but I definitely like bold ideas; I just don’t like presenting myself as an idea if that makes sense at all (owing to my self-esteem issues). Wow…I’ve just undergone therapy here, Donna. I should probably pay you … something for this visit! I can’t wait to read your book; are you going to do NaNoWriMo on it or have you already started? I only tried that once . . . well, anyway, ff to e-mail me offline if you need a beta-reader and/or NaNoWriMo buddy or anything.       3. Yeah… I don’t do it. The first sci-fi book, I paid a friend 100 dollars. For the next two in the series… and the one we are doing now… and the murder mystery, I begged and pleaded and whined on the blog until I found people who would do it for just mention on the dedication page and a free, signed copy mailed to them.
        Also, I still need an editor for the princess novel I am writing… the old one passed away after doing one chapter. I am either that good, or that bad.

  36. Woohoo, what fun! I hear they’re doing a new version of THRPS – how can it possible beat the old one. I went a lot when I was a kid, I wonder if I went now whether it would be all kids looking at me and going “where’d the old fart come from” or whether it would be old farts like me feeling like kids again. Could be fun to find out! 😀

    1. It was different, but I thoroughly enjoyed it, but nothing will ever toucha toucha touch the original. No worries, we old farts don’t care anymore and go where we want and we could teach they how Rocky Horror is really celebrated. 😉

  37. I had my beard shaped today. Strangely therapeutic lying back waiting to see, as i always do if he will cut my throat and what I’ll do when he starts. It’s like watching some horror Youtube clip with me in a barber’s chair thinking reality can’t be like this. yet my beard is definitely shaped and I smell of some towel he gave me that is reminiscent of a dog fox that lived under my mother’s tool shed. There are days when I don’t think I’m really involved – I seem to have stumbled onto the page and my part hasn’t been written but the author is kind enough to give me a few settings where i can sit down and wait for a reality to pop along and sweep me up. Today in the barber was one of them

  42. Oh dear, not sure if my comment on this has gone into moderation or disappeared – I left it to look up what Richard O’Brien is doing now and came back to find it gone. Brilliant Gifs here and thanks for trip down RHS memory Lane. I always thought Richard O’Brien was hot, even into later years. (Is that weird?) Just read that he is not happy what has been done with the new production of it, he said that he feels the producer and director have missed the point completely. Didn’t even know it had been done!
