Had to laugh at pyjama-guy. Many a time I’ve thrown jeans over my jamies to get the kids to school, or coats over their jamies and mine to nip to the shops. These days, in Britain, public Pyjama wearing is a no-no. If you get caught at the Supermarket in pyjama bottoms you’ll be politely asked to abandon trolley and leave. A tricky one, considering how many day clothes resemble night clothes these days. 😉

PJs used to be a no-no here too, but now they seem to be everywhere, does seem practical, less changing. 😉

I love people watching. My favorite place in down the shore sitting on a bench on the boardwalk. Elderly couples that still hold hands, young couples, families, teenagers and the um very strange folks:)
I also get a kick out of watching people at red lights or stop signs, too funny!
I agree, it’s one of my favourite pastimes and it never gets old because we’re fascinating, humans, that is. 😉

Im intrigued by copper wire man with the slurpee (this may not translate across the pond or it may be my age but can you do that on public transport in Canada?). Anyhoo, was I Magnetron in disguise do you think? All those wires? And I’m glad to cons were the antithesis of the pros. I think antitheses are important but overrated. Up the pros (can you say that on public transport?)
It’s from a store here called a 7-11, sells terrible giant sugary drinks filled with dodgy dyes and Lord only knows what else, plus other convenience items, even food although I am unsure of who would eat there or what kind of dire situation you were in to do so. A slurpee is monster slushy carbonated drink, come to think of it, I wasn’t looking too closely, best not to make eye contact with some people on the bus, it might have been a Big Gulp…either way, it was scary. As for the wires, people are stealing them from homes, hydro poles, etc. and selling the copper – there are even signs up on all our city poles saying this isn’t the good copper (which would just make me think it is and they’re just saying that). I think you can say (or do) just about anything on public transport. 😉
Yep we have regular copper thefts from the overhead wires on the tube system plus a few fried thiefs
Seems like copper is to die for these days. 😉

I like watching the ghost in the rental house near us chasing the tenants out. That’s a lot of fun. Lest you think you should feel sorry for them; We’ve had crack heads, meth heads, city people who think the country is going to be like suburbs with trees , and people who think it’s okay to party from 10pm to 6 in the morning without considering that their neighbors actually have day jobs.
I think that house has caused more breakups between couples than a philandering movie star. 🙂
Not sorry for them at all, but would love to see the ghost chase them out. Cool.

Donna, this post is brilliant. I haven’t been getting out and about too much lately so am missing out on sights like this. My ten year old daughter is now catching the train to and from school every day and fills me in on the latest sightings. ON Friday, the there were a whole lot of uni students all dressed up as Japanese gaming characters and they gave the kids balloons and put lollies out for them to help themselves. She talks about how the kids from another school “invade” and how they hide between the seats. Before she started at the school, I thought about her and her friend traveling alone and the risk of lurking paedaphiles but the train is packed full of kids and the teachers call it the “social hour”. She loves it. I’ll have to show her your bus story. Hope you are having a great weekend xx Rowena

Concerning the zoo part.. There’s a saying that MIGHT be the beginning of an answer: ”The more I get to know human beings, the more I love animals”. You have a more interesting mass transit system than we have. Either that or I ride at the wrong times. But yes, you can sure learn lots about human nature by observing – and a bus is one of the best places for a budding author to be, just as one example.
We do seem to have a lot of ‘characters’ in our ever-growing city. 😉
I just watched “A Walk in the Woods” with Robert Redford and Nick Nolte. It has more depth to me, taking on hiking the Appalachian Trail and camping in the rough, while I am 60, I was laughing, teary eyed and exultant when they reached a peak with a grand vista! I am well and enjoyed that post and had both Paul and Robert posters on my attic garret ceiling.
I haven’t seen that one, it looks good. And I can guess that was an amazing feeling!
