One plus two plus two plus one…I love Tim Curry in anything, but it was Clue that reinforced an unsual childhood belief. I thought if I rewatched a TV show or movie it might have a different ending. I was told by my parents, brother, friends, teachers, family, everyone this was not so but the belief persisted. Then Clue came along. Yes, with its multiple endings. I love Tim Curry’s breathless frenetic energy in this film. The rest of the cast is dynamite, but Curry shines brightly. https://yadadarcyyada.com/2021/10/29/sweet-screams-are-made-of-this/

My first taste of Curry was, of course, The Rocky Horror Picture Show (https://yadadarcyyada.com/2013/10/25/the-rocky-horror-picture-show/ + https://yadadarcyyada.com/2018/10/26/the-more-the-scarier/ + https://yadadarcyyada.com/2016/10/28/enter-at-your-own-risk/ + https://yadadarcyyada.com/2016/10/14/the-glorious-chaos/) which I have now seen too many times to mention in polite company. Yes, I’ve dressed up for midnight showings. I’ve brought toast, newspapers, gloves, lighters, rice…and yelled, “Borrrr-rrring!!!!” many, many times and never meant it once. I’ve jumped to the left, then I stepped to the righhhhhht…

I cringed when I saw the red balloon and the sewer, IT isn’t something you’ll forget. Curry was certainly Legend. And Home Alone 2 will certainly need more tissues this year, for those we’ve lost (Tim Curry, Catherine O’Hara and Brenda Fricker) and maybe other reasons. A dose of toxic love lives in my brain as an earworm forever, anyone else love Ferngully: The Last Rainforest with Curry as Nexxus? And since Psych is one of my happy places, nothing made me happier than to see Tim Curry as Nigel St. Nigel, he had quite a Cowell, I mean, scowl in some scenes.

Then there’s Annie (amazing even after the news of Tim Curry’s passing, the sun did come out). The Hunt for Red October on a Russian sub and everyone has various accents, none of which are Russian, ummm, cool? The Secret of Moonacre. Addams Family Reunion (mon cher). Worst Witch. The Cat Returns. Oscar. Rugrats. Wild Thornberrys. Poirot (Appointment with Death). Monty Python’s Spamlot. Muppet Treasure Island – muppets and Tim Curry, what’s better than that? I could go on.

My point? Some people come into our lives to add joy, even if we never meet them. They bring smiles from afar, from a screen. Bring us music that fills our brains and hearts. Make us laugh. Scare us, in a good way. Make us think. Make us wonder. Help us hope. And when they’re gone, we miss them, but they stay in our hearts. Thank you Mr. Curry. You’ve gone home now.

Always remember, don’t dream it, be it.
