  • We ‘humans’ fall head over heels quickly, with: people, pets, passions, movies, books, songs (I’m still on a Tears For Fears kick although The Cars too, goodbye Ric Ocasek, you were just what we needed), politicians, celebrities, television shows, smartphones and other electronic gadgets and gizmos, cars, causes, friends, fads, flights of fancy…oops1

And when we fall out of love, look out, love can quickly turn to hate (and shouldn’t continue to date, not great).

I still love my readers, other bloggers, but sometimes I wish I knew how to quit you (or me, or WordPress, or the internet).

  • I’ve fallen hard for another Australian series (https://yadadarcyyada.com/2014/09/06/miss-fishers-murder-mysteries/ or is that just gravity talking?), this time, “The Heart Guy” aka “Doctor Doctor”. A brilliant bad boy cardiac surgeon gets sent home, as a punishment, to practice medicine in his hometown, Whyhope. Naturally, things get complicated fast. Rodger Corser (In “Glitch” as well, S3 is about to crawl out of the ground soon) may play the lead, Dr. Hugh Knight but his cast-mates are bright shining lights cutting into any and all plans. Why hope? Why not? Another season has been approved and I’m cheering. Yahoo! For Canadians this dramedy reminds me a bit of “Corner Gas” with more actual drama and for the U.S., like “Seinfeld” but with less New York snark and more Down Under snark.

  • I’ve got one of cupids arrows stuck deep in my heart (could explain chest pains, besides the Tietze Syndrome) for writing and reading then writing some more. Will I ever be an author, a real live published author, as many of my talented fellow bloggers are, as so many writers are, who knows, but it’s fun slow blogging and writing the world’s best novels…in my head.

  • Captivated with “The Handmaid’s Tale”. Thank you to the parents of Margaret Atwood and Elisabeth Moss for giving us such gifts. It’s funny to think I first read this book almost 35 years ago, when I naively thought it was fiction and thank goodness this could never happen. Note to self, never say never. If you haven’t started reading one of Canada’s most precious natural resources, Margaret Atwood, I suggest you love yourself enough to begin your journey. But I guess, like horror, it’s a safe way to examine our fears without admitting they’re coming true. This is how we live now.

  • Enraptured by the final season of “Game of Thrones” (finally caught up with a free preview month). As a fan, little disappointed, as a writer, loved it, so I’m going with the latter.

  1. It’s taken me from the start of your blog until here at the end to admit that Frankie Goes to Hollywood had it right about The Power of Love, it’s a force alright. And maybe we can Make Love, No More War.   2. Yes, I see what you mean about the ads. I still enjoy your blog posts enough to blot out the ads in my mind and skip over them. Have you had any luck talking to WP about why you are being unfollowed by people who don’t want to unfollow you?

  6. Donna, it’s always good to hear from you. Life can sure throw a lot of stuff our way to keep up fighting to stay upright. I hope that you get your work published. After completing my first novel in 2013, I’ve finally self-published it in August this year. Promoting sales is now my latest challenge 🙂

    1. It’s wild, isn’t it? I know I’ve refollowed you a bunch of times and there are bloggers whom I literally have to refollow every single time I go to their blog. That’s really dumb and a waste of time. On phones is the only place you can’t see ads, everywhere else the posts are riddled with them.

  10. I recently upgraded my blog to personal…I wound up with 6 charges on my card…I am still working on getting it straightened out. Word Press charged me a fine for disputing a duplicate charge made by them. I’m beside myself, see.

  14. WP is out of control with annoying ads, between them and pop ups it’s sometimes daunting to read a post. But great post as always Donna, and I too look forward to reading more about the future from Atwood’s new book 🙂 (speaking of annoying WP,) I posted a comment 4 times here, so if you happen to see only one of them after being told ‘can’t post my comment’, that would be a gamble. 🙂

On the bright, side, for you, published author (um, yeah – in my world, you are published, because I read your words, shared in your journey – WITHOUT hacking your email, purchasing your marketing info or home address or just being generally – ‘creepy or smarmy about it’ why? Cuz you wrote – and hit the blue button ‘publish’ thingee – and took the time to make such awesome giphy’s, gave me plenty of other cool options to read – AND – Isn’t is SO cool you can do giphys. in the blink of an eye? (as it seems – either sharing or building – I remember from long ago, before MY Hiatus due to life, overload, why bother, moments/phases – you’ve always done that – really – you make me laugh all while I think, “Well, now, doesn’t that suck?!? Okay – be funny about it – get stuck in the trees while contemplating the forest – whatevs – – it’s entertaining – and – I many of the faves you do – I swim sometimes, in both services, research and protecting myself online, best I can figure out, while also thinking, “who am I kidding? I tell the truth, at least the truth right now – for me – and most algorithms and ‘help bots’ still get my ‘algorithm’ wrong, every stinking time – 🙂 As for health issues? It all sucks, trying to be your own advocate, cuz nothing in system really shows up to be one for ya – until often, too late – (Picture the giphy from “shakespeare in love’ and Judy Dench, as Queen Elizabeth, gazing at a mud puddle, and the bowing lords, and just wades through it, “Too late…” I’m off about my own business now….” –
    Enough? for now? to say, I hear ya – I struggle with most of that crap too, on one level or another, at times – I admire your giphy skills – I admire your writing style – I find things in common with you – but – at end of the day? You are a published author in my world – labeling thing – You make me laugh – you brighten my day – and, really – sucks to be each of us at this or that moment –

      I’m so sorry to hear about your internet service sucking, the weird part is, when you try to get recommendations everyone seems to have horrible stories about pretty much all providers, same goes for cellphones, etc. In general, customer service and products and services are all fairly crappy these days. It’s a sad state of affairs and I’m not sure what the solution/solutions would be.
      No matter who you’re talking to, dearest Teagan, you’re always the cat’s pajamas. 🙂

  27. Donna, I’ve been head over heels since spring about watercolor painting. It even contributed to a difficult decision I wrote about in my latest blog post (would love your thoughts on it, BTW). The ads was one of the reasons I chose Blogger over WordPress. Since I’m all about organic, grassfed, pastured, sustainable, from “scratch” cooking, it would have made me crazy to have ads for junky food on my blog. Anyway … as always, I love your blog! A great big but gentle hug (no sense flaring up our fibro!).
