Two Can Keep A Secret…If One Of Them Is Dead

https://yadadarcyyada.com/2019/01/26/two-can-keep-a-secret-if-one-of-them-is-dead/

“Listen do you want to know a secret
Do you promise not to tell woh woh woh closer
Let me whisper in your ear…”

https://yadadarcyyada.com/2019/01/26/two-can-keep-a-secret-if-one-of-them-is-dead/

  • The irony of that Beatles song and everything else, once you’ve told a secret, it’s no longer a secret because, really, two can keep a secret…if one them is dead. “Pretty Little Liars”, huh, more like Petty Little Liars for many politicians and too many others https://yadadarcyyada.com/2019/01/14/your-genius-is-showing/. But not everyone!

https://yadadarcyyada.com/2019/01/26/two-can-keep-a-secret-if-one-of-them-is-dead/

  • Some wear their secrets as armor, others to get away with things, others to avoid embarrassment, but no matter the reason for your secrets, they’re toxic.

https://yadadarcyyada.com/2019/01/26/two-can-keep-a-secret-if-one-of-them-is-dead/

  • I get that secrets and lies are a thing, have been for as long as humankind has existed.

https://yadadarcyyada.com/2019/01/26/two-can-keep-a-secret-if-one-of-them-is-dead/

  • I naïvely thought social media would make it better. Wrong again, it’s worse (or just more obvious…more visible?). Now it’s all denials, proof, more denials, more proof…and so on.

https://yadadarcyyada.com/2019/01/26/two-can-keep-a-secret-if-one-of-them-is-dead/

  • Me, I’m an open book, what about you? Of course, at any given time only those two pages are really ‘open’.

https://yadadarcyyada.com/2019/01/26/two-can-keep-a-secret-if-one-of-them-is-dead/

  • When someone tells you another person’s secrets, red flag wavin’, don’t trust them with your secrets (or anything else).

    1. I know the feeling, dear David, but I have to think that we both bring smiles and laughter, so survive we must and hey, there’s always chocolate, that makes the world big and shiny and gooey. 😉
Hope this weekend is treating you well, dear friend and that joy finds you wherever you are. 🙂

    1. Me too.
Secrets are a lot of responsibility and there are few if any that wouldn’t be better aired/shared.
It’s no secret that I hope this weekend is treating you kindly, Jan. 🙂

    1. So so so much easier to think about chocolate, dream about chocolate, hope for chocolate, plot how to get more chocolate, share chocolate, and of course, eat chocolate. 🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫

  1. Dear Donna… I really hope all is well in your world, and that the only betrayal you might have experienced is that there was more chocolate waiting to be eaten than you thought.
Thanks for putting a lovely and peaceful feeling song in my head.
Sorry but I do *not* promise not to tell about this delightful post. Mega hugs!

lol All secrets should be shared. 😉

  2. Donna, a fun post with a touch of seriousness. The thing about secrets, I don’t tell them, but people tell me. It’s no problem! It’s just part of their life story, unloaded. Now, a day without chocolate would be a big problem! Have a shining Sunday! 📚🎶 Christine

      1. It’s hit us hard and it keeps going. At least the cold has let up a bit, but the snow keeps coming. Wishing you warmth and safety and not too many ‘cabin fever’ hotel guests. 🙂

  4. Hey,

I’m working on my debut poetry book.

I am preparing a mailing list. Would you like me to add your e-mail address please? If so, can you share it with me?

I don’t plan to do it like hard core promotion, I will just inform you when it’s available and when there is some huge fluctuation in price (sale etc.), as on WordPress reader posts get lost in stampede.

That wouldn’t be more than 5 to 6 times a year, max.

Won’t bother you with unnecessary e-mails, promise!

    Thank you 🙂

  5. Ah, yes secrets. I don’t like keeping things from others – I’m also a bit of an open book – but I have no trouble keeping a secret for someone else. In fiction and in drama, however, I love reading about the secrets people keep. That always makes for a good story!

  6. Donna, this is such a timely post! My husband and I have been discussing “secrets” recently as it pertains to confidentiality. One of his pet peeves is when people tell him, “This is between me and you,” because he swears that the secret teller has told someone else already or will tell someone else later. BTW, I’m a big Pretty Little Liars fan. Miss that show! Thanks for sharing on TrafficJamWeekend.

    1. I know right, between you and me, ha, not likely. 😉
I’ve heard they’re doing another spinoff of PLL but I also think another limited series or movie would help us adjust to life PostA or even PostAD lol 😉

Hope this week is treating you kindly, so far. 🙂

  7. Oh, I couldn’t agree more about secrets… I’ve known families where BIG secrets have festered until they chose the very worst of times to burst out in the most hurtful of ways. I hate them – and I’ve noticed that a certain type of person is often drawn to keeping secrets. Uses them as a sort of powerplay.

    1. They are toxic and the long they fester the more toxic they become.
Yes, some folks seem to use secrets as currency, to wield power, that’s sad. Easily thwarted, let those secrets see the light of day and the power goes away.
Hope this week is treating you kindly, so far. 🙂

      1. Yep. Absolutely. Hard to cope when such folks are family members… I’ve seen it cause endless trouble.

It’s been a good week so far and I hope that you, too, are enjoying this week, which seems to be zipping past at lightspeed!

  8. I tend to freeze up if someone says to me, “Do you want to hear a secret?” I usually blurt out, “Only if it’s good”, as in if there’s an upcoming surprise party. There are some things I just don’t want to know.

    I hope you’re keeping warm!

    1. I never trust people who tell me secrets, well, a surprise party is ok, especially if it’s mine (I don’t like surprises). 😉
