These Still Aren’t The Gifts You’re Looking For the week before Christmas
(almost two till my birthday)…

When all through the blogosphere…
not a blogger was stirring…
ok, some are stirring, but mostly cocktails…

Yet posts were still flying out with hopes that readers might give them a shout!

Christmas isn’t the most wonderful time of the year for bloggers, readers and many bloggers are off prepping for the big day, partying, waiting in line for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and of course, searching for “the” perfect gifts.

Here are some, er, helpful (?) last-minute gift ideas for those “hard-to-buy-for” folks:

1. O Christmas tree! As a cautionary note, unlike in the movies, apparently it’s ‘frowned upon’, some might call it “illegal” to just randomly cut trees down. So you can find a home for a puppy or kitten, but not a poor little tree? That seems wrong.

2. Draw happy faces on all their socks/nylons/underwear so they’ll feel happy as they start each day. Or you could sneak into their home (or room) and draw a happy face on their wall or mirror in red lipstick or paint. It’ll be a fun surprise, not at all creepy.

3. Fix something (people love when things get fixed). TV, car, fridge, cellphone, alarm system, computer, election, appliances, sewing machine, etc. Even if nothing was broken (but might be after your “help”), it’s the thought that counts.

4. Donate to a cause in their name or better yet, start a foundation in their name; I’m sure it won’t affect their taxes…much.

5. Sing them a song (only if your voice doesn’t resemble fingernails on a chalkboard, mastodons dying in a tar pit, Bridget Jones singing, or my Mom singing – love you, please don’t sing).
6. Indie books. Mass-produced can be good, but a steady diet can leave you feeling flat. Best thing about indie, less cookie cutter, same goes for everything. Any indie authors reading this, please add links in the comment box below where your work can be found (heck, it’s Christmas, anyone add links).

7. Food clothing! Taco ties, socks, and hats. Also available in: lasagna, kung pao, pizza, chocolate, wine, beer, hamburger, and curry flavours. Hungry? Bored? Clothes never tasted so good!

8. Make a natural, organic, and very, very personal sculpture, coat, hat, scarf, or quilt out of your hair and nail clippings – free range fun?

9. Lint kittens and puppies! They’re back, furry fun fresh from your dryer! Easy to keep – no walks, no food, no  poop (unless you count dustballs). Soft and cuddly, unless exposed to water.

 10. Honesty – those who receive this present may not appreciate it at first, but it might be the best gift they ever receive…someday.

So, these probably aren’t the gifts you’re looking for (except the indie books), so just remember, don’t sweat gift-giving, the best gift of all is still…you!

Happy Holidays to you and yours!

All the best in 2018!

  1. LOL… It seems that I usually got pretty much the gifts I was looking for (expecting), but not so much for the ones I wanted. Applesauce… did I just say something rather profound. Nah… impossible.
I got off track for a second with #2, when bizarre visions of a Red John Christmas danced in my head. But I was back by the time I finished #3. 😀
Happy Christmas and merry almost birthday, Donna. Hugs!

    1. I think it was profoundly confoundingly profound? Or the other way round? I got nothing lol 😉
Yes, I miss “The Mentalist”, they should have a Christmas special with “Psych”. 😉
Thank you kindly and to you as well, as for the birthday, I think I’ll use all the candles this year, and see how many cute firefighters it attracts! 🔥
Mega chocolate and hero hugs xoxoxo

  2. Well I’m certainly glad I haven’t abandoned my blog-hopping habit for the year ’cause I would have missed your post; which I don’t often see on the Reader so I can read, guffaw, and comment on it.

Although I love reading most all blog posts, I do have a special affinity for those with a creative slant. Those that scream SURPRISE, and those that give me a reason to go Uhmmm.

Yep! Those that take the ordinary and transform it into an out of the box reading/visual experience. Of course I love the images, which you gotta have in my opinion, and if they’re animated, well…yo yo yo. Happy Holidays!

    1. The WordPress Reader (like many other WP things) is unreliable at best, hopefully you can get the notifications or follow me on Twitter (@yadadarcyyada) and we can see more of each other. 🙂
Thanks, I agree, I can read some stuff all over the place, I like to get that off to the side/different feel. 🙂 Thanks for dropping by and blog hop over here any old time (my archives are just a burstin’!!!). 😉
Happy Holidays and all the best in 2018!! ❤️

    1. Probably only the indie books (you’re too kind). 😉
Oh thank you for leaving your link, I have yet to have the joy of reading your books 📚, but I hope to very soon. Thank you again.
      Happy Holidays and a wonder-filled 2018!!! 🙂

  3. Oh, you have the ideas dancing across my brain like little electric sparks now Donna. My gifts shall be masterpieces. I shan’t be so cruel as to add links to my books, it is after all Christmas.
    Have your best one ever.
    xxx Massive Hugs xxx

    1. I knew it would inspire some, er, interesting gift ideas, dear David and please, come back and leave your links, that’s not cruel, that’s kind. 🙂
      All the best, dearest friend.
Massive the best time is the present hugs xoxoxo

  4. Happy Holidays to you, too, Donna ❤

This Christmas my only indulgences are listening to Xmas music and watching the Hallmark Christmas movies. No decorations. No lights. No gift exchanges. Whatever happened to Peace on Earth?

    1. Best wishes for your birthday (I’ll sing “Happy Birthday”, but only if it’s The Flintstones version and even then you might be sorry lol) and every single day!!! 🙂 🎂🎂🎂
Yes, it’s a busy time, while fun it can zap the joy and energy, so we need to keep recharging!!! 🙂 🔋
Happy Holidays and all the best, always. 🎄🎄🎄

  5. Happy almost birthday!

I ‘think’ I’ve finished my holiday shopping now, but I thought that before only to realize while wrapping that we’d forgotten to hit the check-out button one gift and it was now too late to get it online. As a result, I was forced to *gasp* actually leave my house and shop in person. Oh, the horror!

    Right book links:
An Uncertain Faith – a Women’s Fiction / Cozy Mystery:
The Fair & Foul – Book One in my science fiction series
The Watch & Wand – Book Two in my science fiction series

    1. Thanks, some people say they don’t like getting old (the creaks and wrinkles I could do without), but I think it’s great – I’m still here! 😉
Oh no, did you have to leave the house, what was it like, in a store, in December (The Horror! The Horror!)…lol
Thanks, I’ll check these out! All the best for the holidays and all the year through!!!🎄🎄🎄

      1. It was every bit as terrifying as you might imagine. The crowds! The lines! The same three novelty holiday songs playing over the speaker systems. Oh, the humanity!!!

    1. Thank you, you’re so kind, it’s been a lovely season so far, despite snow up to our necks ❄️❄️❄️ hope yours is going well. 🙂
2018 looks like it might fulfill that old curse, “May you live in interesting times”, but let’s hope for the best. Wishing you a wonder-filled day, week, month, and year, my dear.❤️❤️❤️

      1. You are very welcome! Sorry about the snow. That’s one thing I like about the south, the snow usually melts away fairly rapidly!!
2018 does appear to be an interesting year!!
Thank you! I too, wish for you a wonder-filled day, week, month and year, dear friend!

      2. The snow continues and the cold, I moved to the southern part of Ontario to get away from the cold of Northern Ontario, but I’m afraid it’s stalking me… 😉
2018 reminds me of that expression, “May you live in interesting times”, sigh, seems those chickens have come home to roost.
All the best and maybe not too interesting. 😉

      3. Sorry, you’re having a rough time! We now have snow again and temps in the teens with wind chills in the negatives, LOL! I think we have lost the south (again)!! All the best to you, too!

      4. I soooooooooooo agree, LOL!!!!!!!!!!! To top it off, our heat went out today and they can’t get the part to fix the heater for 1-2 days!! I’m c-c-c-c-ol-d-d-d-d!! Time for lots and lots of socks sweaters, blankets ☃🧣🧤🧥👢🌬

      5. Thank you so much and too you as well – we are still trapped in the cycle of cold and wet, but I dream of Spring (the robins are back but I fear the warm spell confused them somehow).
Sorry I didn’t get back to you sooner, you would not believe what WordPress did this time, lots of comments thrown into Spam and about 25 just poof, disappeared then reappeared weeks later. Sigh, I guess I should be used to it by now, but somehow I always managed to be shocked. lol 😉
Hope this weekend treat you kindly. 🙂

      6. Our poor plants are confused! They have started blooming. Yesterday was a chilly day, and the temps dipped into the 20’s during the night. We’re supposed to have a few more days like that, then another warm up! I worried it’s going to cause the loss of some late/early crops and blooming plants.
I am getting to the point to where I can believe just about anything where they are concerned! I routinely check my spam because so many of my comments end up there!
        Try to stay warm!!

      7. I think Mother Nature is getting more and more confused and it’s certainly not a good thing.
Yes and I’m learning that lesson, check my Spam… 🙂
Hope you and your plants manage to stay warm, Blessings xo
