Breathe. Just Breathe.

https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/12/16/breathe-just-breathe/What is Net Neutrality?
Do we have it?
Do we want it?
Is there an app for it?
Is it a new series on Netflix or Hulu and if not, should it be?
Does it involve The Force, coffee, or kittens? What does it mean?https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/12/16/breathe-just-breathe/
Here’s my grasp of Net Neutrality…stuff neutrally enters the great wide open of the net, including but not limited to: ads; blogging; movies; TV; Hygge; chocolate envy 🍫; bragging; bullying; sports; VR/virtual reality; pandas; puppies; AR/augmented reality; porn; fitness; diets; celebrities; cybercelebrities; wannabes; Pokemon Go (away); AI/Artificial Intelligence (beating out organic intelligence most days); https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/12/16/breathe-just-breathe/mansplaining; news; Social Media, i.e. Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, YouTube, StumbleUpon, Pinterest, Snapchat; Bitcoin; cookies; contests; random kindness; spam; clickbait; trolling; lying; pivoting; emojis πŸŽ„ 😍 🀷 ; Royals; catfishing; snowflakes; pill-pushers (possible deathpills, take a chance for more hair and ummm, personal growth);https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/12/16/breathe-just-breathe/scams; information; disinformation; stalking; harassment; #MeToo; zombies πŸ§Ÿβ€β™€οΈ; shopping; games; micro-moments; racism; sexism; recipes; cozy coziness; altleisure; memes; travel; spoilers; triggers; gifs; Christmas 24/7/365Β πŸŽ… ; crafting; fashion; challenges; Star Trek and Star Wars (how many Jedi were left again?); https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/12/16/breathe-just-breathe/food; kittens; kittens cooking food (is there no end to their talents?) 🐱; Disney trying to out-Fox the competition; unicorns; vampires; all the feels; optimization; monetization; music (or what passes); and…this post. Even on the net, you could feel a form of stuffocation.https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/12/16/breathe-just-breathe/Everything on the net should be treated equally by your Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and governments. No discrimination. No differences in charges by content, site, platform, app, user, modes of communication, or attached equipment. We hold these truths to be self-evident that all bits and bytes on the internet are created equal.https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/12/16/breathe-just-breathe/Closed net: severely restricts access, artificially degrades and throttles some services, and filters information. Open net: gives users access and free will (algorithm permitted). Real costs of losing NN: Skyrocketing rates, limited freedoms/access, throttling, and slowed streaming of video games, music, movies, TV, etc. Remember dial-up, everything old is new again, right, unless you can pay more. https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/12/16/breathe-just-breathe/Vinton Cerf, co-inventor of Internet Protocol supports NN, as does Tim Berners-Lee, creator of the Worldwide Web. https://yadadarcyyada.com/2014/03/12/world-wide-web-turns-25-happy-birthday/https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/12/16/breathe-just-breathe/
Activists, corporations, citizens generally agree; one powerful special interest group, telecom companies with deep pockets employing blobs of lobbyists (counting on the human tendency not to fully appreciate things and people until they’re gone) doesn’t. https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/12/16/breathe-just-breathe/Encouraging competition? Or encouraging net dominance? Everyone’s hooked, let’s sweat even more money out of them. https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/12/16/breathe-just-breathe/Loss of Net Neutrality will further widen the wealth gap; making even more haves and have-nots, even in business. They’re going down a path we don’t want to follow.https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/12/16/breathe-just-breathe/
Communications neutrality has been debated for centuries: telephones, telegraphs, mail, Pony Express, Morse Code, Aldis lamps, Hieroglyphs? This has all happened before: limiting freedoms, fear-mongering, inequality, cronyism, sexism, racism, elitism…around and around it goes, where it stops, oh, it doesn’t.https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/12/16/breathe-just-breathe/For years, many, including John Oliver (HBO) https://yadadarcyyada.com/2014/06/02/net-neutrality-i-hardly-knew-you/ have tried to make people aware; there was headway, before Putin, I mean, Trump became President.https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/12/16/breathe-just-breathe/Loss of Net Neutrality could have a positive effect, people might spend less time online…but let’s face it, a body in motion stays in motion and our society is fully mobile.https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/12/16/breathe-just-breathe/ It’s now, not the future, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has decided, thumbs down to NN – fast and slow broadband lanes will be allowed. https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/12/16/breathe-just-breathe/This holiday season give yourself the greatest gift of all, breathe, just breathe, then get involved in this (and more). Write letters/emails; take part in politics; start/sign petitions; listen to truth (it’s still out there)…Freedom is worth more than anything you’ll ever buy or receive from any store.https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/12/16/breathe-just-breathe/

  1. The Trump appointed FCC chairmen is a Koch brother’s libertarian. Charles and David Koch decided long ago that they don’t like democracy and the republic that the U.S. Constitution supports and they are doing all they can and spending billions to subvert that Constitution and the democracy it safeguards. If we blame anyone, blame Charles and David Koch first.

    1. And all those who go along with it. I see what all these rich people πŸ’°πŸ’°πŸ’° are getting out of this stuff, but why do others go along with it, against their own best interest? It’s baffling. πŸ˜•
Thanks for dropping by and hope this weekend is treating you well so far. 😊

      1. You’re welcome. Hope your holiday season and all of 2018 are filled with good days and endless laughter.

It isn’t difficult to understand why so many “deplorable” people are voting against their own interests.

They are voting with their emotions and for these deplorable people, their emotions are ruled by hate and fear because they have allegedly been seduced by the PsyOps campaign generated through Rupert Murdock’s Fox News and the likes of Sean Hannity while reading Steve Bannon and following Alex Jones, et al.

I would just love to be able to see what’s going on inside the minds of people so taken in by liars, is it fear, does it cloud their judgment, attack their logic. I feel so sad for them (but I don’t appreciate being dragged along for their bizarro joyless ride), it’s painful to see people so desperate that they’ll fall for lie after lie and be used by these powerful people to make themselves more powerful. I know it’s pointless, but I wish I could hug them and tell them they’ll worth more than being used.

      3. Giving them a hug might be dangerous. They probably think huggers are all evil liberals and if you attempt to hug them, they will punch you in the face and break your nose. I suspect that Trump’s deplorable followers have watched so much TV their brain has regressed and they don’t have the mental ability to tell the difference between truth and lies and/or they don’t care as long as what they hear supports their hate, fear and racist thoughts that were tattooed on the surface of their brain by Fox News.

      4. I know, so many people seem to view kindness as weakness or worse, but I still hold out hope for them, as long as it takes.
Then they’re definitely watching the wrong TV…I wonder what would happen if FOX News, Alex Jones, etc. were quieted for a few days/weeks and they had a chance to think again, clear out those angry cobwebs and view the world through their own eyes/ears. See, still a cockeyed optimist, woes me, when will I learn? πŸ˜‰

  2. Thank you getting into the nitty gritty of net neutering. It seems nothing good is happening for the consumer since Jan 2016. Here’s hoping the courts will come to the rescue. Thanks for bringing a smile Yada, believe me I needed that. ❀️😊

  3. Sigh… and breathe. (By the way, Donna — that’s my worst thing — simple breathing. Stress or pain takes over and I stop (nearly) breathing… Stupid I know. But it’s not as if I do it deliberately.)
On to this truly important post. You are so right that “Loss of Net Neutrality will further widen the wealth gap; making even more haves and have-nots, even in business.” I think most people are overlooking that particular fact. Yes, our rates would go up, and our connection speeds go down; they already manipulate that and get away with it, but it would get worse. But even worse is how it ultimately benefits the richest people… Applesauce, it’s disgusting!
Thank you for this hugely important post. Sharing everywhere. Hugs on the wing!

    1. I know that feeling, dear Teagan, I don’t know if this helps, but I play an anxiety game in my head, I picture something that makes me happy and then multiply them over and over until I’ve done my multiplication tables (more or less correctly) and there are tons of my happy person, place, or thing floating in my mind, sounds weird but it can often block out the bad stuff and help me breathe. πŸ™ˆπŸ™‰πŸ™Š
Everything now is to benefit the few, the elite, maybe it’s time for a good, old-fashioned revolt (minus the violence, hopefully). πŸ˜‰
Thanks for reading it, dear friend, did you actually get a notification or just find it among the ether? Sigh, I’m trying to stay positive, but on that note of breathing, WordPress has lost me half my Followers (they took them off my Follow list and I’ve had to go back and put ones back), half my “Likes” per post, I’m not getting about half my notifications and about 1/2 my folks aren’t getting notifications about my posts. It’s been months now and they can’t or won’t fix it. My choices, quit blogging or try to find a new platform. Breathe, Donna, just breathe. Overusing my happy place. πŸ˜‰

      1. No, I didn’t get a WP notice — I saw it on Facebook. When the gremlins started messing around early this year my views and comments went down. They kept messing around, my numbers went down even more, and worse several regular commenters disappeared. I can’t blame them at all, because without notices, sometimes the only way I can remember everybody is if they leave a comment at my place… I’m really not being “tit for tat.” I realize lives change, and I can’t blame it all on WP, but…
LOL, I appreciate the suggestion, but for me, math = even more anxiety. o_O. The hypo-ventilation starts without me realizing it. But once aware of it, I have to put my breathing into a conscious pattern for awhile. That helps, but nothing fixes the cause of the stress… Yes, breathe my friend. Breathe in, 1, 2, 3. Pause. Breathe out 1, 2. ❀

      2. Of course you didn’t get a notice, that would be so strange, why would WordPress want anyone to know people were publishing posts? πŸ˜’
Have they fixed any of your issues or are they just pretending they’ll magically get better?
Oh no, sorry, bad suggestion, I don’t like math much either (well, technically, it doesn’t like me) but somehow the tables work for me and happy images, lots and lots and lots of happy images. I’m sorry to hear that happens (though I completely understand), but I’m glad you’ve found ways to deal. Yes, stress just keeps flying at us, I often wonder what it would feel like to have one day without it, just for curiosity.

You are right, freedom is the most important. I just read, that Europe were looking against US to see, how they would handle this case. They have been talking about doing the same here, but wouldn’t if not US also did so, otherwise it wouldn’t help, they say. Very bad for mostly people.

  6. You never put a word wrong do you Sweetie ( even those that had to time travel from 3 years ago). They might not always be in the right order, but they’re always right. It’s said that whatever America does today, the rest of the world does tomorrow. In this case I hope they’re wrong and that the greedy b*stards remain in the one place while the rest of us chip away at them and for once set a good example. There’s enough money in what they do without taking away Net Neutrality for more , it’s just greed as I’m sure the Chairman of the FCC and his vested interests knows only too well.

  8. Donna,
You did a great job with your post, again! As usual. You explained it very well.
It’s scary and once something goes into effect (as history has repeatedly taught us), it hardly, if ever, is changed. Plus, once you start down a slippery slope, where does it end-I can imagine several scenarios, and none of them are good.
Hopefully, Canadians will realize and run the other way, at least that is my wish for you and your fellow countrymen and women.
    Have a great week.

We too often forget the ripple effect changes can make, even the word, “changes” is too often viewed as a positive word when in fact, many changes injure or destroy.
We’re doing ok right now, heading in the right direction but we have elections too and now that Russian has remembered they can run countries through puppets, we’ll see.
I welcome an visits through my archives, sweetie, but it’s slow going for me right now, I don’t think I’ll be blogging until after the holidays – you could say I’m taking it one day at ‘clementime’. 🍊🍊🍊
