People Forget #Kindness Is Free

https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/11/17/people-forget-kindness-is-free-2/

Bees’ll buzz and I’ll afford their organic honey cuz…I’ll be doing whatever rich and famous folks do…Sportin’ a healthy bank account, not blown away by emergencies. Da da… Da doo…A bah bah ba baba boo!
Attention and money are both so intense
Put ’em together, it never, ever makes sense!
Rat dadat dadat dadat dadadadadoo
Anonymity’s the best time to stay in and cuddle, but put me in ‘attention’ and I’ll be a happily overexposed attention wh…oh, umm, writer/blogger! So when life gets rough, I persist by frantically grabbing my dreams of not just wallowing in obscurity…Oh the sky will be blue and you guys’ll be there too!!! When I ever do what obscure folks do with attention!https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/11/17/people-forget-kindness-is-free-2/

Choose love, hope, peace, kindness (people often forget it’s free), laughter, compassion, family, friends, helping others when you can…naps https://yadadarcyyada.com/2016/02/01/theres-a-nap-for-that/ and cake (not necessarily in that order).

In a world seemingly ruled by attention, how do you keep up (and why)?

https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/11/17/people-forget-kindness-is-free-2/

 1. Be interesting.https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/11/17/people-forget-kindness-is-free-2/

2. Interesting not enough? Try shocking.
https://yadadarcyyada.com/2016/04/10/shock-and-awww/

3. Shocking still not getting enough clicks, likes, and shares in this attention economy? Try no-no-Notorious (sorry, Duran Duran apparently still holds some mysterious thrall over me).https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/11/17/people-forget-kindness-is-free-2/

4. Are you feeling like you should keep a single thought, event, or moment private? This is your dignity and self-respect rearing its ugly common sense head, don’t self-sabotage! Tell all! Show all! Don’t let fear of failure stop you from succeeding in your attention-seeking goals.https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/11/17/people-forget-kindness-is-free-2/

5. Toss aside burdensome personal and professional relationships – more will come along and if not, you still had your brief, precious moment in the spotlight.https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/11/17/people-forget-kindness-is-free-2/

6. Be committed! This isn’t a diet, gym membership, Netflix browsing (what day is it?), friendship, job, or relationship – this is serious! Getting attention isn’t for the faint of heart. https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/11/17/people-forget-kindness-is-free-2/

7. Stop looking for the meaning of life, you found it: getting attention.https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/11/17/people-forget-kindness-is-free-2/

8. Helping people is nice, but what if you can get attention while doing it? Fire, flood, famine, family, friends, fawning, fatuous, fake fads – all the new attention-grabbing fabulous!https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/11/17/people-forget-kindness-is-free-2/

9. Your life is for sale, stick a sign on you that says ‘Sold’.https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/11/17/people-forget-kindness-is-free-2/

10. Over 4 years ago when I started blogging I wasn’t thinking about the attention, or was I?
https://yadadarcyyada.com/2015/04/10/im-hooked-on-a-feeling/ https://yadadarcyyada.com/2015/08/27/message-in-a-bottle/ https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/06/02/nobody-puts-bloggers-in-a-corner/
https://yadadarcyyada.com/2015/03/26/why-i-will-never-be-freshly-pressed/

https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/11/17/people-forget-kindness-is-free-2/

So I’m going to take my own advice, There’s No Crying in Blogging (there is whining thought, right?) https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/02/02/theres-no-crying-in-blogging/https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/11/17/people-forget-kindness-is-free-2/

People think they want attention and/or fame, money, etc., but maybe what they really want is connection.https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/11/17/people-forget-kindness-is-free-2/

I’m going to stop over-thinking, getting in my own way, getting frustrated (good luck, especially with WordPress around), and enjoy the moment.https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/11/17/people-forget-kindness-is-free-2/

I’ll try not to think about awful people, instead I’ll think of the awesome people I’ve virtually met (and adore!). https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/11/17/people-forget-kindness-is-free-2/

Also, blogging is cheaper than therapy.https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/11/17/people-forget-kindness-is-free-2/

Slow blogging (Thanks Fibromyalgia!!! https://yadadarcyyada.com/2013/11/23/f-is-for-fibromyalgia/    https://yadadarcyyada.com/2013/08/31/fibromylagia-is-just-another-word-for-lazy/) isn’t getting me many clicks and likes, but I’m ok with obscurity and I give thanks for what I have https://yadadarcyyada.com/2014/10/13/thankful-i-know-enough-to-be-thankful/ https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/11/17/people-forget-kindness-is-free-2/

And I can still dream…and can still afford chocolate, for now https://yadadarcyyada.com/2014/11/22/who-moved-my-chocolate/

  1. Oh, dear Donna, as usual, you had me giggling and howling and smiling throughout this whole hilarious message. Then when I got to who I think was Mr. Bean with the raw turkey on this head, I finally lost it. Thank you for being you…you are a marvel and a delight.

    1. I’m glad you enjoyed it when WordPress stopped playing games and let me post it properly (third time is the charm lol).
I know, if I even am in need of a smile, snort, giggle, or chortle, that turkey on the head does it for me. 😉
Thank you for dropping by and hope this weekend is treating you kindly with barrels of laughs. 🙂

    1. WE do and it’s way too easy to get turned around and worry about the wrong things and about what’s “out there” instead of what’s happening, in real time, in our own lives.
Hope this weekend is treating you kindly so far. 🙂

  2. Well… I was sure I commented, but the gremlins are clearly afoot. I couldn’t possibly say it better than Jet.
You are such a uniquely you delight, Donna. As Thanksgiving approaches in the USA, I am most thankful for you. Hugs on the wing!

    1. Oh Teagan, the tales of WordPress gremlins I could tell these last few weeks, they have played every trick in the book, and I didn’t feed them after midnight or anything. 😉
I was sorry to hear about your week, dear friend, I’m hoping your weekend has given you some downtime, some peace and next week is better.
I’m thankful for you as well, my blogging sister/friend, you are a smiling-giving beast. lol 😉
Mega “Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul – and sings the tunes without the words – and never stops at all.” (having a Dickinson day) hugs xoxox

  3. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving and if you are slowing down, dear. . . Not You!!
I am sad. I have had friends with fibromyalgia which is also challenging for them. I hope you are finding ways to feel less pain.
My heart goes out to you, Donna. ❤

    1. Technically our Thanksgiving in Canada was back in October, but we’re kind of like the 51st state of America, so, we kind of keep it going and I do like the Black Friday sales and I’ve never said no to turkey and all the fixins. lol 😉
Thank you, sweetie, it’s a sort of one day at a time thing and having such a wonderful, kind, and supportive blogging family helps a lot.
      Gentle hugs xoxox

      1. Gentle hugs to you and maybe for good measure I will send you “air kisses!” 😘 You are like my third daughter, hope things become easier, like you said, one day at a time, dear friend! xo 😊

  4. Such a refreshing post, I love it! You’re totally right; kindness is free but people can forget that, so let go of the stresses and overthinking and worrying and fretting, enjoy the amazing talents you have for writing and blogging, and love your own space on your blog and the enjoyment it gives you 🙂

  5. I feel so conflicted about this post, Donna. Especially “This is your dignity and self-respect rearing its ugly common sense head, don’t self-sabotage! Tell all! Show all!” Are you saying I need to post something, pronto?! 🙂
In any case, good to see you back and posting several times lately. Way to kick that fibromyalgia’s butt! I loved seeing so many of my favorites up there, regardless of season, like Mr. Bean with a turkey on his head, Star Trek, BBT, Monty Python, and so on.
I can’t remember when Canada celebrates Thanksgiving Day (if you call it that), but, regardless, I hope you rock a happy, healthy, productive week—take care!

    1. My sarcasm-mobile got away from me, Leigh. lol 😉 It’s so easy to want attention or think we do, when really all we want is connection. Connect when you feel like connecting, sweetie, we’ll be here. 🙂
I’m trying (although WordPress is not being very cooperative), yes, had some fun folks join in to celebrate the here and now whenever they were then and thereing. 😉
We had our Thanksgiving in October, but we’re kind of America’s 51st state so we just keep the thankfulness going and going. 🙂
Thank you kindly and you too. 🙂 Big hugs xox

    1. As long as we all understand what chocolate really is, we’re good to go – salad for days. lol 😉
It was an awesome party, Kathleen, as they all are and this week, unbelievable, #101!!! You all are amazing, doing that every week, bringing together bloggers and readers and more bloggers. Thank you. We too often focus on the negative stuff in the world, when they’re so much good stuff. As for attention, we really just want connection and you help with that every week. I’m thankful for the kindness of #BloggersPitStop 🙂

Hope this week treats you well (as long as we don’t watch/read the news too closely or too often we can pretend, right?). 🙂

  6. Hi Donna: I’m glad you’re blogging often again. I missed your posts.
I say chocolate is great! I’d also like to say attention doesn’t matter, but why else would I actually publish my books? Not why I write them – that’s different. But I make the next decision to publish, so others will pay my books attention, and buy them — and I’m glad and thankful when they do. It’s when we can’t do without the attention that we should worry, right?

    1. Thanks, I was blogging often, Cynthia but half my subscribers weren’t getting notifications (thank you WordPress), and all the other issues, hopefully it’s fixed and stays fixed. lol 😉
      Chocolate is great, agreed!!! 🍫
It’s true, as writers we not only want to express ourselves but for others to find and enjoy those expressions. But attention shouldn’t be an addiction, as it is for too many. 🙂
Thankful is a great way to go. 🙂
All the best of the season and all the year through! Hope you can pop by my latest posts, I know time is limited around the holidays and I’m so excited you shared some of your time with me (there’s that liking attention again lol). 🙂 🎄❤️

    1. Thank you so much for adding my link, you’re too kind, Jacqueline…I wish I’d found this sooner, I haven’t checked my comments as quickly as I should have and of course, WordPress isn’t sending so many of us notifications. I’m so sorry, but this was cool and I’ll try to keep a better lookout. Hope this week is treating you well. 🙂 Big hugs xoxo
