Dancing In The Dark

https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/04/21/dancing-in-the-dark/“Making your way
in the world today
takes everything you’ve got.
Taking a break from
all your worries,
sure would help a lot.
Wouldn’t you like
to get away?
Sometimes you want to go
Where everybody
knows your name,
and they’re always
glad you came.
You wanna be
where you can see,
our troubles are all the same….
You wanna go where everybody knows your name.” (Cheers)

Yup, that’s blogging in a nutshell – bloggers from around the world gathering at a local establishment to share our joys, sorrows, fears, woes, hopes, wisdom, jokes, dreams, and hopes.
And I get it, blogging isn’t curing cancer.
Blogging won’t solve devastating problems: world hunger, disease, poverty, climate change, drought, unemployment/underemployment, etc.
Blogging probably won’t overcome the horrors of: war, terrorism, racism, prejudice, sexism, crime…

https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/04/21/dancing-in-the-dark/It’s still not ok for WordPress to use bloggers as lab rats (it’s also not ok to use rats, or any living things as lab rats). I’m already in their bad books https://yadadarcyyada.com/2015/03/26/why-i-will-never-be-freshly-pressed/  WordPress, change your motto, “If it ain’t broke, break it” to “Let it be”.

Step right up! Come and see! Things your eyes and ears won’t believe! Welcome to the blogging/internet circus!

See the clowns (only some are scary)!

https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/04/21/dancing-in-the-dark/
See the boy raised by wolves (Trump wasn’t raised by wolves? I’d just assumed…).
See the living skeleton (Oops, sorry, that’s a model).
See the Spineless Wonders (we can overcome the lies…and stop using the Hitler card!).

https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/04/21/dancing-in-the-dark/
See the bearded lady (The joys of menopause?).
See the Strong Man/Woman (Anyone who believes facts, not alternative facts).
See the trolls (Hired and those that do it for kicks).

Welcome to blogging, like dancing in the dark, while eating cotton candy with your toes on a Ferris Wheel, in the rain, as someone shoots darts at you. Are you ready bloggers, start blogging…

https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/04/21/dancing-in-the-dark/

1. Blogging works best if you have a blog, if not, start a blog.

https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/04/21/dancing-in-the-dark/

 2. Write ‘posts’ aka string together a bunch of words you hope (desperately) make sense. Maybe add some images. TADA!

https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/04/21/dancing-in-the-dark/

 3. Don’t forget to add tags. Not skin tags or sales tags; tags letting people know what is in your post.

https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/04/21/dancing-in-the-dark/

4. Think you’re done? Press the button (Not the red button!!!), the publish button. A crucial step, otherwise you’ll think your blog is very unpopular.

https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/04/21/dancing-in-the-dark/
5. Big, bright, and beautiful! Way too much food! Rip-off games! Tunnels of Love! Dicey ‘rides’! Mistreated animals (so wrong)! Chocolate-covered everything! Haunted Houses! Welcome to the Circus Internet Maximus!

https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/04/21/dancing-in-the-dark/

6. You’re so vain, you probably think this post is about you. Don’t stress, readers won’t always get it or agree. You have choices: keep going, change, or stop.

https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/04/21/dancing-in-the-dark/

7. Knock, Knock, Knockin’ on Blogger’s Doors…Interact, comment, like, share on social media: Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook, StumbleUpon, Tumblr, Reddit…

https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/04/21/dancing-in-the-dark/
8. Forget all the advice you’ve heard, only you know what works for you.

April is Autism Awareness month. I’m lucky to be the Mom of an amazing son (also happens to have Autism/Asperger’s). I sincerely believe most people are ‘aware’ of Autism by now.

Disagreements swirl and rip around Autism, causes and treatments, but what we need, for everyone in the world, is compassion, hope, and engagement.

https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/04/21/dancing-in-the-dark/

In the blogworld as in the real world, our choices are many, let’s make good choices, not just on Earth Day, but everyday.

https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/04/21/dancing-in-the-dark/

So come have some happy times in these seemingly unhappy times, where everybody knows your name…Cheers to dancing in the dark!

https://yadadarcyyada.com/2017/04/21/dancing-in-the-dark/

Sometimes, you just have to run away to the circus...or your local blog.

  1. Never thought about eating cotton candy with my toes — too much toe jam for me. And Ferris Wheels aren’t my cup of tea. 🙂

I’ve spent 24 years working in the field of developmental disabilities and understand that every one of us is developmentally disabled in some respect (i.e. many rocked scientists are socially disabled). It all depends upon what a society values in any given century (i.e. a cabinet maker doing stellar work who couldn’t read got along fine 200 years ago).

    1. I love the fact that so many people are so different (different not less). You’re so right, a lot depends on the time, era, etc.
Thanks for dropping by, hope you have a wonder-filled weekend. 🙂
P.S. I try to keep my toes clean just in case I come across any cotton candy. 😉

  2. Ha! Well done. I remember a blogger who once lamented never being Freshly Pressed, so she started a new category, Freshly Baked. Made me laugh. Speaking of Dancing in the Dark, you read a few hundred blogs and you do sometimes forget who exactly wrote about being “Freshly Baked.” Some blogger…
Sometimes I think a bit of anonymity is probably a good thing.

I enjoyed your circus analogies. When things are just too crazy, I like to tag posts clowns in the asylum. I forgot who once said that one too, but when the world seems crazy, you just have to remember the clowns are now running the asylum.

    1. Yes, many days I feel Freshly Baked, mmm, now I’m thinking of baking, now I’m thinking of cookies, sorry, I digress, what were we talking about, oh yes, it really does feel like clowns are taking over and they’re scary ones…very scary. 😉

  3. Donna, this is simply wonderful for Autism Awareness. I love how you sneak into your topics with pristine prose. We blithely follow your pied piping until we dance into the real subject — then we dance some more. And get cotton candy along the way. Oh, and that last GIF is pos-i-lutely polka-dottily perfect. Have a wonder-filled, hug-filled weekend, my friend. 🙂

    1. Thank you, dear Teagan, for your kind words and all the #bloglove sharing – wow! Autism certainly is near and dear to my heart, I just wish more people could see than different doesn’t mean less.
That you for following my sometimes long and winding road, dear friend and I’m glad you enjoyed it all.
      Mega heartfelt hugs xoxo

  4. You do always bring big smiles at my face, when I visit your blog, Donna 😀
It is good, that there have been/are so much awareness at fx Autism through the last many years. There were not many years ago, when I could have used support for my son. He is well functioning today, which I can not thank the professionals for that.
    Enjoy your weekend 🙂

    1. I agree, there is so much help needed yet so few resources and understanding. Thank goodness there’s so much love in our hearts for them.
Too bad more people couldn’t understand they’re different, not less.
Hope this weekend treats you well. 🙂

  5. Hi Donna, how the heck did you get the picture of me in costume practicing my killer dance moves? I suppose you recognised the hair style and my rather large tummy in my polka dot outfit. Normally I’d be unhappy to be thus exposed to so many of your followers but if it’s being used to direct attention towards Autism I shall grin and bear it. I’d never live it down if I said grin and bare it. The arrest would soon follow.
You are still a very bright light in a very dark heaven for me Sweet Donna.

  11. I don’t know where to begin. Blogging doesn’t solve the world’s problems but it’s a great way to discover others are in your particular circus. Brother in law with autism, life is getting more interesting by the day. What a wonderful, bloggy world this can be.

    1. Welcome to our circus, enjoy the show.
Life certainly is never boring when Autism is in the mix, but I hope there is joy within all that circusy chaos!
Hope this week is treating you well. xoxo

Well I kinda cheat. I mostly find other blogger’s post that I Love & reblog it! 😉 ❤
    Peace, love & happy blogging,

Sounds like me, sad to say … I am in the process of hiring a coach. That should help. Also must decide which crowd funding I will use. I think it's between Indiegogo & Pubslush. Any thoughts on those?
Peace, love & getting my groove back,

I enjoyed the video and shared it and your book shows very intriguing, I hope I get to read it someday.

  13. Blogging is certainly about taking a step into the big, wide, weird world of the internet – I’ve met so many fabulous people and also read some pretty wacko stuff (the AtoZ Challenge brings out the would-be poets…..oh dear!) I always love all your memes and this time it fits so well with the psychadelic world we write in 🙂

  14. It is about content!!! Be content. Ha! Also, never do a blog from a pet’s perspective. And maybe bail on wordpress… they are slowly dying. And I just noticed that they now lump posts together on the boards… or pages… or whatever those things are called… I mean, according to this, I missed like three posts on this blog, and instead of getting them one at a time, I get this mishmash of titles. Silly wordpress. Let’s all go somewhere else.

    1. Yeah, I noticed the lumping too, it’s horrible for people who do multiple posts/day. And switching people’s email to block and likes not staying likes and unfollowing people without notice or consent, it’s got me thinking.
