Always On My Mind Blog Party

1blog110Decisions. The average person now makes more decisions in a day than most did in weeks, months, even years. Decisions can engulf us. Haunt us. Overwhelm us. Interrupt us. Even stalk us in our dreams, ummm, a Nightmare on Choice Street? Choices are great, but too many can make it difficult, or almost impossible to make and trust decisions. Then comes the morning after, littered with “Did I make the right choice?”, “What did I do?”, “Can I return this?”, “What was I thinking?”.

1blog106

Even in blogging there are so many decisions. At first, it felt frightening, like I was that boy in Jurassic Park, when Dr. Grant was explaining how Velociraptors kill.

1blog90

Now I’m more like Chris Pratt, on a motorcycle, riding with the Velociraptors in Jurassic World, which for me was an all-out, action-packed cheesefest (in a good way), but a noticeable lack of Jeff Goldblum.

1blog88

And yes, we’ve all made the wrong decisions, like someone thinking it was a good idea to make a certain theme park ride that shall remain nameless, ok, Tomorrowland, into a movie. It had its moments, mainly involving George Clooney and Hugh Laurie – I do so enjoy when Laurie’s given a chance to rant.

1blog86

Even after years of blogging I still have trouble making some decisions, and have more blank-I-just-can’t-make-this-decision-moments than would seem humanly possible..but mostly it’s much, much more like It’s A Small World After All.

1blog109

Blogging has taken me to places I might never have gone:

1. Magical places…
https://yadadarcyyada.com/2015/10/03/sweet-dreams-are-made-of-this/

1gone10

2. Hopeful places…
Thank you, Mary Smith http://www.marysmith.co.uk/ for your riveting novel, No More Mulberries and equally entrancing non-fiction offering, Drunk Chickens and Burnt Macaroni: Real Stories of Afghan Women. Reminding us that so much of the stereotypes, drama, and propaganda are fabrications – to sell products, news, and government policies; that strength, compassion, and hope still blossoms, especially in the hearts of the oppressed.
1blog96

3. Intriguing places…
https://yadadarcyyada.com/2015/10/09/you-may-say-im-a-dreamer/

4. Complex places…
Ever wonder what happened after? You know, after Darcy and Elizabeth, after Jane Eyre and Rochester? Some authors take up the challenge and continue the classic stories. It’s awfully daring, foolhardy, or just cashing in. In the case of Luccia Gray http://lucciagray.com/ – I’m going with daring. As a reader, I didn’t feel this was just to piggyback on the fame, but because Gray loves the enigmatic character, and wanted to continue Eyre’s story through her Eyre Hall Trilogy. The first book, All Hallows at Eyre Hall draws you in, and by the second, Twelfth Night at Eyre Hall you’re on tenterhooks, awaiting more.

1blog98

5. Spacey places…
https://yadadarcyyada.com/2015/12/18/these-arent-the-gifts-youre-looking-for/

6. Even racey places…
Not in a tangible sense, but maybe that’s me, because my idea of a romantic Valentine’s Day is the return of The Walking Dead. Who knows? Love is a mystery.

One way or another, we’re all busy.
Finding blogs we enjoy is challenging enough, but making time to read them is daunting.
Why not put all the awesome blogs in one place?
I promised you a blog party https://yadadarcyyada.com/2016/01/24/take-it-easy/

Here it is!
1. Mix and mingle, refreshments to your left beside the archives (what do you think of the new theme?).
2. Please leave your blog link or post link in the comment box below along with any introductions. One link per comment, but come back as often as you’d like.
3. Please reblog to spread the word or like, share on Twitter, Pinterest, Google+, Facebook, etc. Like, share, reblog, tell your family, friends and blogneighbours.
4. I will visit and respond asap (at the snail’s pace I’m moving these days, the next Star Wars film could be out before my asap…kidding ).
5. Have fun, it’s a great way to find bloggers and have them find you.

1starwars43

Thank you for coming to the party and for supporting my blog…You’ve made blogging a decision I’ll never regret.

    1. Yahoo, Austin’s here! 🙂
I don’t know, Austin, you’ve had some pretty impressive dating tips and by the look of your lovely girlfriend, they worked. 😉
Thanks so much for dropping by my party, next time, we should all wear togas (that would be quite a sight).
Hope this weekend is treating you well. 🙂

      1. I know that, Austin, you’ve been supporting me with all your #bloglove almost since the beginning of my blog, without you I don’t know if I would have kept going. You’re a wonderful blog friend, I always appreciate that. 🙂

  1. What’s with themes? There’s a theme of themes. I just commented on someone’s blog about themes (she was wondering if she should change hers) and how much I love mine even though others think it’s bland and boring. Then I come here and you have a beautiful new theme. It’s lovely. Anyhoo, have fun at your party. (Agreed about Luccia Gray’s books.) 💖 Cheers!

    1. I liked my old theme, but it wasn’t that mobile-friendly and since apparently over 60% of people read blogs on mobile devices now I decided enough of being a Luddite or a Ludblogite? I don’t know, I decided to move with the times. 😉 I’ve tried a few of them, but so far this is the one I feel most comfortable with, it’s called Highwind and best part, it’s free! 🙂
Thanks for dropping by, Sarah, I was telling Lucy I’m going to be doing a longer review of her books later (Mary’s as well), but I couldn’t help popping them in here so they’d get more traffic, although as it turns out it’s been a bit slower than usual, but I’ve heard that from everyone this weekend…is there something big going on, like, in the real world or something? lol 😉
Feel free to drop by again and leave some links to your posts so people can check you out, er, I mean, them out. Cheers!

      1. 😂 A ludblogite! Well, I’m on my phone and it’s gorgeous. I don’t know… Things do seem a little slower than usual. But nice of you to include the books anyway. I look forward to reading more about them. I just got both of them but haven’t read them yet. Hey, check me out! Meh…my blog is kind of angsty at the moment. Full of self-doubt and writers identity crisis crap. 😜

      2. I thoroughly enjoy your blog and your title alone is awesome, Lemon Shark (both can have quite a bite), but I know how you feel about the self-doubt and writers identity crisis crap, I started a book and now we’re not getting along, a bad romance, maybe we need book counseling. 😉
Things are slow, but WordPress is also having major problems again, including but not limited to: Likes not staying (again), notifications not showing up, posts not on readers, etc. Hopefully they’ll fix those soon. 🙂

Hope this weekend is treating you kindly. 🙂

  2. Howdy, folks (and Donna!). I’m in a slight quandary here in that when I knock on the door of one of these blog parties, bearing a lovely cheese tray and other nibbles, I usually introduce myself with a prepackaged bit that babbles about all three of my blogs. However, being a strict adherent to order and proper formation, I noticed that Rule Number 2 states that I can only have one link per comment, a guideline that destroys the questionable flow of my “Love Me!” cut-and-paste intro. Then, after a moment of reflection on the important things in life, I decided to just chop up my PR package into rule-satisfying segments. Here’s the first bit…

My writing interests and styles fluctuate from day to day, a condition which might startle first-time readers, so I actually have three different blogs with loosely-structured themes. This allows potential followers to order from the a la carte menu if they don’t want a multi-course meal. (Of course, there’s nothing wrong with following all three, please do, especially if you want to fully understand what will eventually lead to my incarceration at the Beaver Valley Home for the Socially Maladjusted.)

Bonnywood Manor: This is the home of my long-form ramblings, wherein I go into great detail about people, places and things that have either raised or lowered my blood pressure lately. (Fair warning: I often babble in the form of a numbered list, which the “blogging experts” say you should never do. I don’t know why they say that, but the fact that people are telling me what I shouldn’t do is incentive enough to go ahead and do it.) This is also where I “test drive” stories and chapters from my current books-in-progress, trying to gauge if I’m on the right road of if I’ve taken a seriously wrong turn.

Yes, I’d gotten rather attached to my theme, but apparently it was mobile-friendly, but my new theme is really starting to grow on me (after only like 10 or so other themes I tried). 🙂

  5. Hi there, Donna’s readers! This is such a fun idea. It’s my first blog party! I’m Julie, and I write a spiritual blog at http://www.findinggodcreatingme.com. I write about spirit, the afterlife, energy, grief, and living each day with purpose. Just having this blog was a big step for me as I’ve lived my life doing everything I’m ‘supposed’ to do (I’m such a good girl 🙂 ). Raised in mid-America in the Bible belt, I grew up with church and Jesus (happily…I still love Jesus). After a very difficult grief journey, I had some pretty amazing things begin happening. I spent about 10 years questioning (the experiences, my sanity, etc.) and then two years ago I had a total spiritual awakening and began writing everything down. I wrote my first book and have had good success with it and began my blog to write what I’ve learned and what I’m still learning to help others who might be searching.

Whew, that’s probably too much, but there’s always so much to say! Can’t wait to start looking through all the blogs here. Donna, thanks so much!

  7. I can’t believe the party’s still going strong. I hope the neighbours haven’t complained.
Thanks for inviting me. I’ve made some new friends, which is lovely, and seen some old ones, which is really nice. Tomorrow’s a working day, so I can’t stay out too late, but I’ll circulate a bit longer.
I have my own private celebration, as my blog is a year old today. There was a point when I thought we wouldn’t still be together after twelve months, but we’ve made it. Today’s anniversary post will probably make some people think I shouldn’t be invited to parties like this, but isn’t everyone just a teeny bit fascinated by the Black Death? No? Just me, then. https://aprilmunday.wordpress.com/2016/01/31/ten-things-you-didnt-know-about-the-black-death-2/

My problem with blogging is that I have 3 very different blogs: 1. monologue jokes/band names
    2. Red Sox Report 3. my personal learned views on astrology (I have yet to post any of this, because I think it needs a 3rd blog site)? At least I’m not all “hate-y” this week, because I just finished my 3rd novel. My WordPress blog (the comedy one) is under the lighthouse pic: http://davidforbesbrown.com/

  10. Everyone is so overdramatic. ‘Hate’ is simply trendy word at the moment. Equal with ‘love’ – either love or hate something, with no middle ground. In the same way folk have tonsillitis when they really have a sore throat, ‘flu when it’s a cold etc. Drama, drama, drama 🙂
