I know, some of the jokes and bits are being rehashed because TBBT‘s been on so long and it can be a tad draggy at times now, but this show can still have it’s signature gut-splitting moments.
This week, The Proton Transmogrification once again give us the treasure of Bob Newhart as Arthur Jeffries aka Professor Proton and in true TBBT bizarro mode, as Obi Wan Proton.
Newhart delivers hilarious lines in his brilliant deadpan style. Seeing him dressed as Obi Wan was a nerd dream fulfilled. Thank you TBBT. I got goosebumps.
When Newhart ‘cut’ himself with the lightsaber and said he was going to need a band aid, well, priceless.
The conversation between Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Obi Wan Proton (Newhart) in the Dagobah swamp (or as Newhart said, ‘too bad I thought it was Florida’) were dazzling. They talked about serious subjects, such as: loss, grief and an appreciation of those still with us with humour, grace, compassion, and mentioning Doctor Who.
Loved Amy‘s (Mayim Bialik) reason why she went into science (involved selling Girl Scout cookies, whores, and a library).
This show also has a special place in my heart because they clearly depict Sheldon as having Asperger’s Syndrome and well, I have my own Sheldon at home, so…
TBBT shines when they tackle significant topics in their own special way.
And it never hurts to have amazing guests stars such as:
Bob Newhart, Stan Lee, Brent Spiner, Bill Nye, Wil Wheaton, Leonard Nimoy, Carrie Fisher,
George Takei, James Earl Jones, Katee Sackhoff, Mike Massimino, Charlie Sheen,
Summer Glau, Steve Wozniak, Howie Mandel, George Smoot, Neil deGrasse Tyson,
Buzz Aldrin, Steven Yeun, Lewis Black, Keith Carradine, Yeardley Smith, LeVar Burton,
Christine Barnaski, Ira Flatow, Laurie Metcalf, Eliza Dushku, Stephen Hawking, etc.
