I was really looking forward to this as I love The Legend of Sleepy Hollow ( the 1820 short story by Washington Irving) as well as various movies, cartoons, and shows it has spawned.

So far, the Fox TV series Sleepy Hollow doesn’t disappoint.

It seems to have everything on my list.

Really cute British actor as your male lead, check.

Cool shadowy cinematography a la X-Files, check.

Beautiful, tough talking actress as your female lead, check.

Headless horseman who seems to be in a really bad mood or likes his job way too much, check.

Interesting retelling of the story, Ichabod is more like Ichabad cause he’s all backbony, the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, time travel, cops, supernatural forces, politically correct discussions about race, er, check?

Ichabod seems to have assimilated well into 2013 from his long slumber when he, umm kinda died in 1781 during a Revolutionary War mission for General George Washington, but the headless horseman even more so with his Terminator style liking for modern weaponry.

So clearly this is going to be one or those good vs evil shows, but so far, loving it. Inaccurate sure, silly, possibly, cool and campy, yes. But the Starbucks joke won me over.

But it doesn’t matter how good it is or if people like it, it’s on Fox so it could be cancelled, yes, I haven’t let either Firefly or Terra Nova’s cancellations go yet Fox.  Not even close.

Now a totally gratuitous photo of Johnny Depp from Tim Burton’s Sleepy Hollow.

You’re welcome.
